Saturday Stretch
“But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” – Romans 8.25 (NRSV)
The Week Behind
Sunday was busy, with Sunday School, graduation parties, and the kickoff to our awesome Vacation Bible School! Our VBS rocked – we had over 50 kids more than one day, and we really reached our neighborhood. I had the funeral for Thomas Goss on Monday. I also had the privilege of preaching at our four community nursing home services, which is always a moving experience.
The week ended at the Northern Illinois Synod Assembly. I’ve been tweeting it on the #nisynod hashtag. Also, congratulations to Pr. Mark Oehlert, my internship supervisor, who was elected to the Northern Illinois Synod Council.
Input
Church Symbolism by F.R. Webber, a great old book I’m using to put together my Sunday School lesson on symbols in the sanctuary.
Another great series webcomic: FreakAngels. The art quality on this one is really excellent, but make sure you start reading it from the beginning.
(Yeah, I read a few webcomics!)
Output
My post on sticky Bible bookmarks, which are a useful way to help lectors use the Bible on Sunday morning.
Also, I reflected on Gratitude and Solitude earlier today.
Jennifer and I made this Father’s Day card for Anneliese’s grandpa’s (and Godpappy!)

The Week Ahead
I’m really pumped about my first class on “Symbols in the Sanctuary.” There is so much amazing stuff embedded in our sanctuary that we don’t even know about! Looks like I’m also doing a memorial service for Marjorie later this week. Beside that, I’m hoping to rest a bit – it’s been a busy week, and it’ll be nice to get caught up.
