The Gospel of Matthew: Now when the Centurion and those with him, who were keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were terrified and said, "Truly this man was God's Son!"

The Gospel of John: "We are not permitted to put anyone to death."

The Gospel of Mark: Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the way he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that I am?" And they answered him, "John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets." He asked them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered him, "You are the Messiah." And he sternly ordered them not to tell anyone about him.

The Gospel of Matthew: ...a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased."

The Gospel of Luke: "we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel."

The Gospel of John: But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all! You do not understand that it is better for you to have one man die for the people than to have the whole nation destroyed."

The Gospel of Matthew: "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples...."

The Gospel of Luke: ...when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heaven was opened.

The Gospel of John: "We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die because he has claimed to be the son of God."

The Gospel of Mark, chapter 16, verses 9-20: Now after he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.... And they went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere....

The Gospel of Matthew: An account of the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

The Gospel of John: "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him."

The Gospel of Luke: and Mary said, "My soul magnifies the Lord."

The Gospel of Mark: The beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

The Gospel of John: "If you release this man, you are no friend of the emperor. Everyone who claims to be a king sets himself against the emperor."

The Gospel of Matthew: "His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep."

The Gospel of Luke: Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he had been made known to them in the breaking of the bread.

The Gospel of John, chapter 20: "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe."

The Gospel of Luke: "...repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.... And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."

The Gospel of Matthew: Then the high priest said to him, "I put you under oath before the living God, tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God." Jesus said to him, "You have said so...."

The Gospel of John, chapter 20: "Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"

The Gospel of Luke: When day came, the assembly of the elders of the people, both chief priests and scribes, gathered together, and they brought him to their council [also called Sanhedrin]. They said, "If you are the Messiah, tell us." He replied, "If I tell you, you will not believe; and if I question you, you will not answer. But from now on the son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God." All of them asked, "Are you, then, the Son of God?" He said to them, "You say that I am."

The Gospel of Matthew: The next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate and said, "Sir, we remember what that impostor said while he was still alive, 'After three days I will rise again.'"

The Gospel of Mark: Now at the festival he used to release a prisoner for them, anyone for whom they asked. Now a man called Barrabas was in prison with the rebels who had committed murder during the insurrection. So the crowd came and began to ask Pilate to do for them according to his custom.

The Gospel of John: "We have no king but the emperor."

The Gospel of Luke: When the Centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God and said, "Certainly this man was innocent."

The Gospel of Matthew: When Ludas, his betrayer, saw that Jesus was condemned, he repented....

The Gospel of John, chapter 21: Jesus showed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias.

The Gospel of Mark: At three o'clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?" which means, 'my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?' When some of the bystanders heard it, they said, "Listen, he is calling for Elijah."

The Gospel of Luke: "We found this man perverting our nation, forbidding us to pay taxes to the emperor, and saying that he himself is the Messiah, a king."

The Gospel of John: When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, "Woman, here is your son." Then he said to the disciple, "Here is your mother."

The Gospel of Matthew: Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barrabas and to have Jesus killed.

The Gospel of Luke: It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, while the sun's light failed; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit."

The Gospel of John: "I am thirsty."

The Gospel of Matthew: Then the people as a whole answered, "His blood be on us and on our children!"

The Gospel of Luke: When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had been wanting to see him for a long time, because he had heard about him and was hoping to see him perform some sign.

The Gospel of John: Then the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and about his teaching. Jesus answered, "I have spoken openly to the world; I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all the Jews come together. I have said nothing in secret. Why do you ask me? Ask those who heard what I said to them; they know what I said."

The Gospel of Matthew: The earth shook, and the rocks were split. The tombs also were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised.

The Gospel of John: "My kingdom is not from this world. If my kingdom were from this world, my followers would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here."

The Gospel of Luke: "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."

The Gospel of Matthew: Pilate...took some water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of this man's blood...."

The Gospel of John: Pilate asked him, "So you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king...."

The Gospel of Luke: Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing."

The Gospel of Mark: Then Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. Now when the Centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, "Truly this man was God's son!"

The Gospel of John: Pilate...went out to the Jews again and told them, "I find no case against him. But you have a custom that I release someone for you at the Passover. Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?"

The Gospel of Matthew, chapter 6: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one."

The Gospel of John: "It is finished."

The Gospel of Matthew, chapter 5: "...everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

The Gospel of Mark, chapter 13: "Then they will see 'the son of Man coming in clouds' with great power and glory. Then he will send out the angels, and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven."

The Gospel of Luke, chapter 15: "...get the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; for this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found!"

The Gospel of Matthew, chapter 25: "Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?"

The Gospel of John: When the people saw the sign that he had done, they began to say, "This is indeed the prophet who is to come into the world." When Jesus realized that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, he withdrew again to the mountain by himself.

The Gospel of Luke, chapter 6: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled."

The Gospel of Mark: Pilate asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" He answered him, "You say so."

The Gospel of Matthew: Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" And they said, "Some say John the Baptist, but others Elijah, and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." And Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven...." Then he sternly ordered the disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.

The Gospel of Luke: "Zacchaeus, hurry and come down; for I must stay at your house today."

The Gospel of John: ...many, even of the authorities, believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue.

The Gospel of Mark: They came to Jericho. As he and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside.

The Gospel of Luke: When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem.

The Gospel of John: "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem."

The Gospel of Mark: The Pharisees went out and immediately conspired with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.

The Gospel of Luke, chapter 10: "And who is my neighbor?"

The Gospel of Matthew: "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. It is these you ought to have practiced without neglecting the others."

The Gospel of Mark: Then Jesus ordered them to tell no one; but the more he ordered them, the more zealously they proclaimed it.

The Gospel of John: "Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe."

The Gospel of Luke: He was the son (as was thought) of Joseph...son of Adam, son of God.

The Gospel of Matthew: The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them; they brought the donkey and the colt, and put their cloaks on them, and he sat on them.

The Gospel of Mark: He was teaching and saying, "Is it not written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations'? But you have made it a den of robbers." And when the chief priests and the scribes heard it, they kept looking for a way to kill him; for they were afraid of him, because the whole crowd was spellbound by his teaching.

The Gospel of John, chapter 20: "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained."

The Gospel of Luke: "He stirs up the people by teaching throughout all Judea, from Galilee where he began even to this place."
